What have we been up to lately?
July 2025 - June 2026
We returned to the Governess to kick off the year with a Bench Meets Bar Membership Drive on September 25, 2025. We honored breast cancer awareness month with a walk around Eastdale Village in support of Miles for Hope on October 19, 2026. Then we capped of the year with our annual holiday party at 1915 Wine Cellar.
We kicked off the new year with a fantastic virtual CLE on Generative AI in Legal Practice on January 29, 2026. In March, we held our first annual Women in Law panel for high school students at City Hall in Poughkeepsie. It was an incredible event that we cannot wait to expand on in the years to come. And, finally, we returned to the Grandview for our Annual Installation Dinner on June 9, 2026. We once again secured an incredible key note speaker, the Hon. Joseph A. Zayas, New York State Chief Administrative Judge and were pleased to install our new president, Joanna Longcore. Check out our gallery for photos of fantastic event!
July 2024 - June 2025
President Danielle Strauch got the year off to a great start with a fantastic brown bag lunch with not one, but two wonderful judges and cherised MHWBA members, the Hon. Christi A. Acker and the Hon. Jessica Z. Segal on July 18, 2024, followed by a friday-evening picnic at the beautiful Millbrook Winery on July 26, 2024.
On August 28, 2024, we held a membership drive event at the Governess, and new waterfront restaurant and bar on the Hudson, with beautiful views of the river and walkway. We will certinaly be returning here again!
In September 2024, we were please to nominate the amazing Erica DeTraglia, Esq. for the esteemed Joseph Gagliardi Award. It will come as no suprise to anyone who has had the pleasure of knowing her that she won the award. Congratulations, Erica!
On October 25, 2024, we held a virtual CLE on Appellate Practice Tips & Strategies presented by Stephen Bergstein, Esq. of Bergstein & Ullrich LLP. On November 22, 2024, we held another brown bag lunch, this time in Ulster County, with the Hon. Sara McGinty and Court Attorney Judith Nolfo.
Before we knew it, December was here and we held our annual holiday party at 1915 Wine Cellar! other brown bag lunch, this time in Ulster County, with the Hon. Sara McGinty and Court Attorney Judith Nolfo.
On March 20, 2026 we held a cozy happy hour at the Tavern at the Beekman Arms. Finally, we capped off our year with our annual Installation Dinner at the Grandview on June 10, 2025. Danielle agreed to serve another term as presidet and the Hon. Madeline Singas of the New York State Court of Appeals gave an incredibly inspiring and motivational key note address. Truly a fantastic way to end the year!
May -June 2024
WBASNY Convention
We attended the WBASNY Convention, which was held at the Gideon Putnam in Saratoga Springs. Our chapter was especially honored to watch one of our long-time members, Adina C. Gilbert, receive the Joan Ellonbogen Founder's Award, on May 31, 2024. Please check our facebook page to see Adina's incredible speech!
We were also incredibly proud to watch our past president, Kerri Yamashita, be sworn in as the recording secretary for the WBASNY. Kerri is the first member of our chapter to be elected to serve as an officer of WBASNY. We are truly excited for her, and hope she starts a new tradition of former MHWBA board members being eleted to serve as officers of WBASNY.
Installation Dinner
On May 15, 2024, we held our Installation Dinner at Cosimo's in Poughkeepsie. We were honored to be joined by the Hon. Yvonne Flowers, Mayor of the City of Poughkeepsie, as our guest speaker and we were so grateful that the Hon. James L. Hyer was able to join us to perform the swearing-in. Congratulations to our new president, Danielle Strauch!
April 2024
Annual Meeting
We met for our Annual Meeting on April 3, 2024. We were pleased to vote unanimously in favor of the WBASNY slate and the MHWBA slate.
Third Thursday Luncheon
We gathered this month for a lovely luncheon at 225 Warren Street in Hudson! This was the first time we have hosted a Third Thursday Luncheon in Columbia County!

Women's History Month Celebration
We celebrated Women's History Month with an event at Locust Grove in Poughkeepsie. The Keynote Presentation was presented by Diane O'Leary, Esq. and the subject was Susanna Bedell & Charlotte Frank: Their Remarkable Backstories
January 2024
Third Thursday Luncheon
Our membership met up at Mill House Brewing Company for lunch with members of the Board!
FREE CLE!
The Mid-Hudson Chapter joined together with the Rockland Chapter, Westchester Chapter, and Orange-Sullivan Chapters of WBASNY to present a CPLR CLE via Zoom that was free to all WBASNY Members. The event was very well-attended and we look forward to welcoming Judge Dillon to another event in the near future!

Annual Holiday Party
We joined together for a lively celebration of the newest members of the judiciary from our ranks: the Hon. Laura Wong-Pan, Hon. Linda Murray, and Hon. Angela Thompson-Tinsley. We raised funds for domestic violence victims at Grace Smith House and Ukrainian refugees.
